POSITION SUMMARY
The HR Generalist is a versatile, hands-on HR professional responsible for delivering broad-based support across the full spectrum of human resources functions including payroll processing, benefits administration, employment and recruiting, onboarding, compliance, employee relations, and performance management. This role serves as a key resource for employees and managers across the organization, exercising sound judgment and maintaining a high standard of confidentiality, accuracy, and service in all HR operations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Process and administer bi-weekly payroll, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, stipends, garnishments, and tax remittances; maintain payroll records and support quarterly and annual tax reporting.
- Administer employee benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and leave; manage open enrollment, FMLA tracking, Workers’ Compensation claims, and required plan filings.
- Support the full employment lifecycle — drafting job postings, coordinating recruitment and selection, preparing offer documentation, and guiding hiring managers through the process.
- Conduct new employee orientation and onboarding, including completion of employment paperwork, I-9 verification, background checks, benefits enrollment, and HRIS data entry.
- Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable resource for employees and supervisors on HR policies, workplace concerns, and compliance questions; assist with investigations and documentation as needed.
- Maintain and update HR resources including the employee handbook, position descriptions, org charts, and the HR website; generate reports to support planning and compliance activities.
- Support compensation benchmarking, annual pay increase processes, and performance management programs, ensuring consistency and clarity across the organization.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws including FLSA, FMLA, ACA, I-9 regulations, and related reporting requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; 3+ years of progressive HR experience across multiple functional areas.
- Working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance; experience with HRIS and payroll platforms; strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High level of discretion, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent certification preferred; higher education experience a plus.
